Our Story
Sara Fagerlie, PhD, CHCP

Cancer Communicator was founded on a simple belief: when oncology evidence is communicated clearly, clinicians can act sooner and patients can benefit faster.
Dr Fagerlie brings deep experience across cancer research, accredited medical education, oncology journalism, grant strategy, and content development. Across her career, Dr Fagerlie has led an extensive portfolio of local, national, and global education programs for physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, and has held senior scientific leadership roles at Medscape Education and Educational Concepts Group.
Her scientific career began in academic research at the Oregon Health & Science University Knight Cancer Institute and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, where she studied the molecular and cellular mechanisms of cancer and hematologic disease. She later transitioned into accredited medical education, bringing her research background into the development of practical, evidence-based education for oncology care teams.
Today, Dr Fagerlie leads Cancer Communicator with a commitment to closing the distance between emerging evidence and everyday practice through clear communication, thoughtful strategy, modern technology, and education built to make a difference.
Dr Fagerlie earned her PhD in Molecular and Medical Genetics from Oregon Health & Science University and Bachelor of Science degrees in Biochemistry and Mathematics from the University of Washington. She is a Certified Healthcare Continuing Professional Development Professional and an active member of the American Society of Hematology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the Alliance for Continuing Education in the Health Professions, and the Association of Health Care Journalists.
Cancer Communicator exists to help turn evidence into education and education into better care.
